Extraordinary events require extraordinary responses.
Lowering the Cost of Compute
We understand the process of balancing shrinking IT budgets with rising operational costs and the pressures to lower the overall cost of computing, operating, and maintaining the facilities.
Meeting these requirements in designing a data centre is the type of hard work we love to do. The use of advanced cooling schemes, energy-efficient IT equipment, and much higher-density environments along with advanced technologies like "free-cooling" is standard in many of our new data centre projects. Building new facilities in our northern climates allow us to take advantage of the cooler outdoor air temperatures, greatly improving efficiencies and reducing operating costs. Our approach is to be experts in being curious, and have fun collaborating, building a better way forward.
Retrofits are a unique design discipline
High in demand in the market are data centre retrofits. A key metric involves looking at ‘capex’ versus ‘opex’ dollars. We help our clients realize that they can strike a meaningful balance between the two by updating, retrofitting, or renovating their existing facility.
Many data centres built over the last two decades are woefully outdated and are prime for retrofitting. Even newer facilities built years later are falling behind the technology curve.
We specialize in working in live data centre environments, with all of the associated risks that come with it. Our people are comfortable making the difficult decisions in these situations; balancing speed with composure to understand what is needed to keep the facility, therefore the business, running 24/7. This involves adding new equipment, decommissioning existing equipment, transferring loads from one piece of equipment to another, or while adding additional power and cooling.
